Penny Stocks Trading Online

Penny stocks are traded on Pink Sheets and/or Over the Counter Bulletin Board OTCBB. By definitions a penny stock cost $5 or less. While there are stocks that cost under $5 trading on the big stock exchanges, this type of stock does not. They can be recognized by the .pk designation at the end of the stock symbol, which stands for Pink Sheets. The reason these stocks are called pink sheets is because this was the color of the paper the stock lists were once printed on. Penny stocks trading online is a growing trend with many investors who are willing to undertake the risk.
Penny stock investing is risky because only a few cents can make the difference between poverty and profit. The key when buying penny stocks is to buy large quantities and learn as much as you can about the stock you are investing in. If a stock is traded on the Pink Sheets there may not be a lot of company history available because these companies are not required to file the same information as those trading on major exchanges like NASDAQ and the NYSE. Luckily there are lots of resources online that can help you learn which stocks are promising and which should be avoided.
To trade stocks of any kind on the Internet, you need money and a broker. There are plenty of online brokerages that offer penny stock trading. Examples of online investment brokerages include E-Trade, Noble Trading and Scottrade. When shopping for a brokerage it is important to read the fine print and understand all rules, regulations and fees. Once you've chosen the brokerage that you want to use, the next step is to apply for an account and add funds to it. Many online brokerages have account minimums of anywhere from $1000 to substantially more.
The next step is to decide which stocks are worth buying. Not only do you need to know what to buy but when you should sell it. If you're not a trading expert, there are a wide variety of helpful resources available. You can sign up for alerts, recommendations and newsletters that can offer guidance. There are even software programs called stock trading bots that take all the work out of investing. You might also want to join an online group or forum about penny stock trading to learn from those with more experience.
